Most colleges and universities don’t have “financing” programs. They offer financial aid, but except for unsubsidized Stafford loans or private loans, the aid is usually based on financial need. Scholarships are available, but they are often centered around a certain course of study – like say if you want to pursue a career in music, there are probably scholarships to help with that. If you are now a high school senior, you should check out www.finaid.org. You will find all the information you need to find ways to pay for your education. When you visit schools this year, ask about financial aid packages and make sure you fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at the end of January or very beginning of February 2008 so you will be at the front of othe line for scholarships and grants and subsidized loans.
