There are a few ways to get into the video game field. First would be getting an art degree with some form of specialization with computer graphics. Second would be getting a degree in computer science or computer engineering. These give you the technical knowledge of computers at a language level. Third would be the database aspect of games. Most games have huge databases and the writing/managing of these databases is in high demand.

You have two basic approaches. Either you go into computer graphics or computer programming. Computer graphics handles the artistic side: generating skins, painting the environment, and handling lighting. Computer programming is for the artificial intelligence and base coding.
