Many of the tests on this site are just for fun but several are also fairly useful. I don’t know if they charge for test results or not.

…Okay…I felt badly for offering advice ‘off the cuff’, as it were, so I checked some things out.

1. ProfessorC…Darn good advice. The professionals at your local dept. of labor should definitely help guide you toward a test that best suits your needs.

2. The Myers-Briggs isn’t always expensive, depends upon who is offering it. It and other ‘type indicator’ tests do provide valuable insight of yourself and what, may I ask, could be more relevant to choosing a fulfilling career than a better understanding of your own self? There are a number of such tests offered freely or cheaply online…of course, considering the reliability of the source and being prepared to take results w/ the proverbial grain of salt are points to keep in mind.

3. A variety of aptitude/career aptitude tests are in existence and can help identify skills, abilities, and potentials.

Bottom Line: It all depends largely upon you, the individual, and what sort of career search you are undertaking.
