University of Central Oklahoma Graduates?

I will be graduating from this University next May with a degree in Computer Science. I am curious to hear from other graduates from UCO. What was your experience trying to find a job? I am a little worried as this school is just a mid to lower tiered school and probably not considered one of the top schools in the nation. We are looking to move out of the OKC area after graduation and I wanted to know how UCO is considered in other parts of the country. Should I be worried? BTW, I do carry a fairly high GPA.

It sounds like you are experiencing graduation jitters. I’m not from UCO (go Sooners), but don’t worry you will be fine, and find a job. It just may not be as easy an experience as you have imagined, with offers coming in left and right – you will end up sending out more resumes than you expected and taking a lower salary than what you expected… but your chances of moving up in your field with a bachelor’s degree are very good.

In Oklahoma, employers will be looking for the fact that you actually HAVE a degree rather than where its from. Rarely (in Oklahoma) do employers cherry pick from certain schools. Simply because most of them have never heard of or have any experience with graduates from there. Unless you have a degree in MIT , Harvard or Yale your boss probably won’t even remember where you even got your degree. Trust me!
