You can get your undergraduate degree in anything you would like. It is recommended that you get it in some time of science, biology or chemistry. From there you will go onto med school. You need to take your DAT to get into med school. You will need to get a DDS degree in med school. From there you will need to specialize in orthodontics.

Then, you need to complete dental school.
Finally, you need to go to school to specialize in orthodontia.
I believe you will find this site helpful. It goes into great detail about education, type of work, etc. for someone who wants to prepare to be an orthodontist.
