What is the difference between a BBA or BS in Accounting?

My school only offered a BBA in Accounting, and a lot of employers are looking for candidates with a BS in Accounting.

Doesn’t matter. It’s just an issue with degree terminology as a result of university administration. It takes business schools years to justify a BBA program due to bureaucracy so they often just leave it to a BS degree. In any event, they are considered equivalent. You can split hairs between the two but one can do the same by comparing a program between different schools of the ‘same’ degree — you will always find some differences in required coursework.

BBA stands for Bachelor of Business Administration. BS stands for Bachelor of Science. The BS tends to be more towards the technical/mathematical aspect of it, which is what 99.99% of accounting jobs are. The BBA tends to be more towards the business aspect (running the business) with only a small part concentrated in the accounting aspect. If you want to get a job that requires the BS, well, then you’ll probably need to change schools. Also , make sure the college is accredited. Most people don’t realize how important it is to be until they go looking for a job & can’t get one if their school isn’t/wasn’t accredited.
