What is the Criteria for becoming a California Resident?

I am from Ohio and moved to California just about a year ago and I would like to attend school in California but will not be able to do that until I am a resident because it is way to expensive for me to pay for on my own. However, I can not find any good information on what to do.

You have to change everything regarding your residence, such as drivers license/ID, where you live, at the DMV. You have to have lived in California for at least one year. Your drivers license or your ID will prove your residence of being here for one year, because I think the card will say issue date, and that verifies it. Also anything like a phone bill or gas/water/electric bill that dates back to the time you were here will prove it, but it has to be under your name.

I”m assuming you’re talking about attending a community college. But if you’re not then, I assume Cal States/UC will have the same policy.

You’re a resident. Did you pay Cal State Tax. You have a CA address. You have a CA driver license.

They might ask you for your parents address, just give them yours.
