Not all colleges require you to take a particular math class. In fact, many colleges don’t even require you to take a math class. My younger sister goes to an elite liberal arts college and hates math and has avoided taking it all through college. I think she had to take 2 different science classes to fill their “distribution requirements” but she avoided taking math.

That being said, I’ve found calculus a lot more logical than statistics but I might be unusual in that respect.

It depends on how your brain is wired. I personally love statistics and find the work to be rewarding and while hard from time to time, it doesn’t bother me. Calculus is needed in some form to do statistics, but there is a lot of calculus that you never have to know to success in stats. I have a friend that is a genius in calculus and differential equations and physics but can’t solve a probability or statistics problem to save his life.

In college it will depend on your major and track on which, if any or both courses you’ll have to take. I was at a school were engineers had to take both but math majors only had to take calc. I took both and majored in math and continued on for a master’s in statistics. It’s a great field.

Calculus is usually considered more difficult but some people find them both easy. It also depends on which level of statistics you will be taking. The lower levels are easier than Calculus I. You aren’t required to take a specific one unless it is required of your major. All students are required to take at least 3 credits/1class of math to graduate college. Other majors, like computer science for example, require several math classes such as discrete math, calculus, and linear algebra.

calculus is usually harder, therefore it looks better when you apply for a college app. statistics is also pretty hard but the new graphing calculators they have make it a breeze. it all depends on what you want to major in for college. most dont require anything more than algebra.

Calculus is much harder. But often times you are required to take both statistics and calculus. It just depends on your major’s requirements.

Which one you have to take depends on your major and what your major plan requires.

Many find statistics easier because it deals less with the math and more with the concepts behind the math. There’s still equations and things to learn, but the concepts are more concrete whereas calculus concepts are more abstract. But I’ve also found people who have a very hard time with stat because of this.

Depending on your major, you might be required to take calculus, statistics, or both.

Calculus is harder because it requires more pre-requisite knowledge.

statistics is easier but it is more important if you are not specificly majoring in mathematics. calculus is for the more brainy people who are really good at math. – good luck
