What degree would allow me to help a third world country?
What I would like to be able to visit a third world country and improve the lives of local villages. I want to be able to design and build hospitals, schools, power plants, residential houses, roads, basically anything that can help improve lives.
I don’t expect to be able to do all this myself, but with so many options, I don’t know where to start. I just want to be able to say I made a difference. To be able to point at a building and say that I made it happen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

MBBS, FRCS.
The best way to stop corruption is to help develop a middle class. With the current situation in the developing world, a huge fraction of the population depends on the government for survival. These people cannot afford to complain about the government.
I would say that helping entrepreneurship in the developing world would be the best way to help them. The micro-credit revolution has been a huge way that helps people help themselves. For it to continue to move forward, there will need to be a continued growth in business ideas that can be done much better in places like Africa than in the wealthier parts of the world.
Study business. And, if that doesn’t work out right, at least you could make a lot of money and give it to charity.
