Well, it shouldn’t be so much of a “break.” If you are going to wait a year before going to college, at least get a part-time job. This is going to teach you about the real world and give you more life experience.

You should also consider taking a class or two at a local community college. This will keep your mind fresh and get a few of those general education courses out of the way.

So, pros:

– More life experience

– More money

– Less stress from going straight from high school to college

– More time to think about your major

– More time to explore different campuses

– More time to find out who YOU ARE as a person

Cons:

– Your friends may be going off to college without you (I wouldn’t really care)

– You might crave the real college experience when it’s already too late to enroll

Obviously, the pros outweigh the cons.

Pros, you grow up, seriously you will take your schooling much more serious when you realize how hard it is to work a 9-5 job once the bills start rolling in.

Cons like i just said, somehow the bill will start rolling in and then you could get stuck, you know having to work to keep up on payments and never being able to get out of the cycle your in.

Really take the year off, or do what I did, go to school for the 1st year and see what its like then decide to take a year off (I was transferring durring this year) and when you go back you’ll be more mature then most of your classmates, and trust me that is a good thing.

It might do you good because you can rest for a while however it will be a way also to make you feel lazy in coming to school. If you are not busy in school for a year you might to things not good for you or vise versa. If want to take a break for a year be busy in something worthy rather than doing nothing but be sure to yourself you will take college the next year. The decision of your future is in your hands.

Pros:

You have a break from the stress of studying

You have time to figure out what it is you really want to do with your life

Cons:

You get used to the idea of a steady income, and may experience financial hardship when/if you go back to school

You may get too involved with your job and lose interest in going back to school.

Taking a break and getting back into school a year later is tough because you’re out of the swing of things- you’re a year older than the freshman and wishing you were in classes with people your own age and you’ll graduate one year later than your peers. I don’t see a positive at all.
