what are the pros and cons of taking a year break before college?
Favorite Answer
You should also consider taking a class or two at a local community college. This will keep your mind fresh and get a few of those general education courses out of the way.
So, pros:
– More life experience
– More money
– Less stress from going straight from high school to college
– More time to think about your major
– More time to explore different campuses
– More time to find out who YOU ARE as a person
Cons:
– Your friends may be going off to college without you (I wouldn’t really care)
– You might crave the real college experience when it’s already too late to enroll
Obviously, the pros outweigh the cons.
Cons like i just said, somehow the bill will start rolling in and then you could get stuck, you know having to work to keep up on payments and never being able to get out of the cycle your in.
Really take the year off, or do what I did, go to school for the 1st year and see what its like then decide to take a year off (I was transferring durring this year) and when you go back you’ll be more mature then most of your classmates, and trust me that is a good thing.
You have a break from the stress of studying
You have time to figure out what it is you really want to do with your life
Cons:
You get used to the idea of a steady income, and may experience financial hardship when/if you go back to school
You may get too involved with your job and lose interest in going back to school.
you may be more focused when you come back
able to travel before completing school
have a better idea of what you want to study
cons
you may enjoy the break too much and never go back to school
1 year behind everyone else in your age group
get your degree, then take a year off
