What are the chances of me getting into UCLA?

If I do really good at a community college and want to transfer. Did not have a great GPA in high school. Will they check my high school GPA?Any of you that have successfully transferred to UCLA, what was your GPA? Any extracurriculars, etc?

Once you enroll in community college, you start with a clean slate. UCLA will only look at three things: your community college GPA, completion of IGETC, and completion of your major requirements.

UCLA makes all of the transfer admission guidelines available online here: http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr.htm

Be sure to find out if your community college offers any of the UCLA-sponsored transfer programs (use the link above and look under “Programs to help you Transfer”). Participation in one of the transfer programs significantly increases your chance of admission to UCLA.

I transfered to UCLA last year. No, they don’t look at anything from high school – not your grades nor your SAT scores. My community college GPA was a 3.3, so grades obviously wasn’t the biggest factor. I finished all of IGETC and all the major prep courses from assist.org for my major. I had a job related to my major and wrote about it in my essay. In my opinion my job and the amount of classes I finished got me into the school. You might also want to find a community college with a transfer agreement with UCLA. If you maintain a minimum GPA (I’m not sure but I think its a 3.5), you are guarenteed admission. It’s a wonderful school. Good luck!!

They won’t look at high school usually unless you only spent 1 year at a community college. I didn’t transfer but people who I know who did have GPA’s of at least 3.9 in community college with extracurriculars like independent research, a job in the field, and volunteer work.
