Highly talented and gifted students can get overlooked and become bored in regular schools, so the only way to advance at their own pace might be through homeschooling. Young performers and athletes who are training at an advanced level or have already started working professionally would also need to be homeschooled.
Personally, I believe it’s wrong to pursue homeschooling in order to avoid interacting with certain types of people or those with certain beliefs. If we keep going down that road, we’re going to produce our own native Taliban.

If I were homeschooling it would probably be to keep my children away from children whose values are unwholesome. Socialization is greatly overvalued in my opinion. I would rather they were to learn good solid subject matter in an environment geared to learning. Of course the person teaching them should have a good basic knowledge of the subjects to be covered. My children are grown so I no longer have to worry about it.
