I don’t really like private universities, because there are so many great public schools that are much more reasonably priced … especially in California! But since you asked, here’s what Stanford is looking for:

Application Essay

SAT is required (scores between 1800 – 2250)

SAT Subject Tests are optional, but highly recommended

High class rank (85th percentile and up)

High GPA (3.5+)

A LOT OF MONEY FOR TUITION.

There are no specific requirements for volunteer hours, activities, clubs, or advanced classes. They do, however, prefer applicants to have completed a number of volunteer hours and to have had a rigorous high school curriculum.

Hope this helps!

The site that I gave you in response to your other question will answer this one, too.

But basically, you need a GPA over 3.8 with a weighted GPA over 4.0, lots of AP and Honors classes, SAT scores in the 2200+ range, rank in class better than top 10%, lots of extracurricular activities and a killer admissions essay.

Even then, you might not get in. 90% of those who apply are probably qualified to get in — but only 10% actually get admitted. That means that over three quarters of qualified applicants are rejected.
