What are my chances of getting into a college class if i’m on the waiting list?
i registered for math and have been placed onto the waiting list, i would just like to know what are usually the chances of getting into a class on a waiting list, i go to a community college by the way, thx!

That depends on where you are on the waiting list. If you are #1 or 2, your chances are fairly good. If #30 or 40, it seems unlikely that you will get in.

From my experiences with my school’s registrar’s office, this is what they do. If they offer more then one section of the class, they will try to dump you into another one (without causing a scheduling conflict).
If not, then here is an example of what they do at my college. Say a class has 30 seats. Once those 30 seats are filled, they have a 10% (10% of 30 is 3) buffer zone where students can request to be put into the class through the registar’s office. After those buffer seats are filled, then there is the waiting list. The waiting list is usually only a few people deep as most people usually do not drop a class.

It depends. Since it’s math, there’s a good possibility that people will drop out after the first few weeks. If it’s a math that everyone is required to take, your chances might not be so good.
