What are A Levels?

I’m planning on moving to England soon because of my finance’s job and I don’t know what to do about school! I got my ged about a yr ago and decided I wanted to go to college to maybe try to get an associates in nursing. As of right now, I have completed a semester and passed the required classes for pre-nursing which was psychology and sociology. My boyfriend was telling me something about A levels and how I might have to do it. The schooling system is very different from here and I don’t want to have to waste anymore time of trying to get my nursing degree. Can someone explain this A lvl thing to me and what I can do to avoid it? Descriptive answers would be most appreciative, Thx!

A levels are what us English folk take as part of our education. Usually once a person turns 16 and they have finished their GCSEs, they either stay at there school or move onto a college for 2 years to study their AS levels in the 1st year and A levels in the 2nd year. They usually consist of 3 to 4 subjects of your choice. You pretty much need A levels to get a good job in England. Adults can take them too by studying in certain colleges. Good luck with them if you have to do them.
