Volunteering versus Working on a college application?

I’m starting out my senior year this school year and I wanted to get more done. I have never worked before because my parents and I have had a deal that if I make top scores in my class than I don’t have to.

I really would like to work this year though, or I want to do more volunteer work outside of my clubs.

What I want to know is:

Do colleges look at work experience or volunteering more? Like which one weighs more in their book?

I’m also very nervous about working right after school, I don’t get out early, so at 2:30 I can be at work, however, I do have club meetings after school and my courses are harsh homework/project-wise. But I really want to get the experience in, so when I’m off at college, I know what I’m in for.

help! :[

i wanna say volunteering, but they value work experience as well. with volunteering, they just wanna know that the person that they’re letting in is willing to give back to the community and help others.

unless you job is very professional,(ex. internships, working at lawyer offices etc. will look VERY good on your app., better than volunteering) opt for the volunteering.

they sort of brain wash u in high school. just the 4 years in high school will prepare u 4 college. what u dont get preperation 4 is how to manage ur money ,getting up on ur own, doing all the domestic stuff cause quite frankly u live at home and its being done 4 u. u have 4 years of college to learn and grow. the beat thing to do now is to become more independent of ur parents. do it cause when u do get to college u will be ahead of the game.
