USC versus Berkeley?

I’m going to school premed and am not sure which school would be best, stronger in sciences. I have good grades and tests scores so selectiveness is not a factor. Any advice?

I was a pre-med at Berkeley, and did grad school at USC.

Three semesters at USC cost me more than 4 years at Berkeley!!!

Berkeley is comeptitive in all respect, especially pre-med. Depending on how talented and ambitious you are, this could either be a good thing, or it could be the death of you. If you are concerned about getting into USC for medicine, please note that the #1 acceptor of Berkeley pre-meds is USC.

And having known both USC and Berkeley pre-meds, personal experience has shown that Berkeley folks really know the material better. My Berkeley friends had better MCAT scores than my USC friends. And when I discuss biology, health, medical, and MCAT stuff with them, the Berkeley folks know what’s up, and the USC folks are more likely not to understand me.

Still, I think you really oughtta consider tuition in the equation. USc costs three or four times more than Cal. Cal has a much better academic reputation. And medical school is gonna cost a lot of money no matter what.

If you are premed, then it would be better if you went to USC. Since USC Med is a GREAT school, you will have the opportunity to build relationships with professors who may end up writing recommendations for you when you apply for med school. And if you can secure good rec’s from a member of the USC faculty, it’s that much better.

I will give you this one bit of advice: you will likely change your mind several times about your major once you get to college. So with that in mind, be sure that whichever of the two you finally decide to attend has enough diversity in the curriculum should you find you like biology, physics, mathematics or whatever is more your cup of tea than pre-med.

I would apply to both. That way if one does not accept you, the other one may.

If you can get into Berkeley, go to Berkeley. Both are good schools but Berkeley will look better on a job application.

You do understand that regulation should not be an undergraduate vital, and that UCLA does not have an undergraduate commerce utility? you in all possibility can could develop your SAT score, especially for UCLA, and that i haven’t any thought what your unweighted GPA could be. You do have some good extracurricular activities (yet please ensure you spell it suited on your applications!). you’re no longer actually out of selection, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it may be an prolonged shot with those 2 particularly aggressive faculties. make particular you have some incredible backups.

Both schools are great, but the weather is better and local attractions are slightly better at USC.

Just let your heart tell you. For me, my heart told me to go back to TKD. And i am starting next week. Your heart will tell you whats right. Write pros and cons about both schools and than talk with the admissions and tell them what you are looking for. They may tell you to contact an adviser.
