I’m be a college freshman soon, I’m wondering what types of school stuff college students use?

in particular, do they use spiral notebooks or binders…is it basically like high school school stuff-wise?

or do they just use their laptops as their notebook.

They use what they need to use to take notes. Laptops, binders, notebooks, pencil, pen, tape recorder. There may be a service on campus that sells notes written by someone in your class. You could also make friends and copy off their notes if you happen to miss class. Most students however just use their spiral notebooks w/ pen/pencil. Laptops are too much of a hassle to carry around and set up on a puny little desk. They are also prone to being stolen so be very careful if you do have a laptop.

All in all, college note taking is not much different than high school note taking. You just have to write much faster and discern what is important and what is not.

I started college last year, and I would say that you definitely need a notebook computer. It is very essential to have a notebook because it will facilitate the homework load. Besides, most colleges/universities have wireless internet all over campus, so connection shouldn’t be a problem.

I think notebooks or binders are just fine. I think this is a matter of personal preference. Also, I think this depends on what type of class you’re taking. Would you want to take class notes on a sheet of paper and then add it to the binder? Or do you just prefer to use a notebook? Or do you prefer to type your class notes direct on to a computer while in class session?

As for other materials like: pens, pencils, eraser, calculator, ruler, printer, paper, white-out, post-its, sharpies… In this sense, its just like the typical high school materials. =) Hope this all helps.

It all depends on what you want to use. I prefer binders, in case I need to print my notes before class. They are versatile, durable, and lined paper is cheaper than buying new notebooks. However, some of my friends prefer notebooks (bound and spiral) over binders. It’s a matter of personal taste.

As for laptops, that is up to you. If you can afford it and you think you REALLY will use it to write down notes, then go for it. Most people I know just use to chat with their friends instead of taking notes. Not conducive to studying.

Also, pick up some folders to pack old exams or essays. You never know who might need them to study with later.

It’s really up to what works best for you. If you choose to read the book (not many students do), then you won’t need to take many notes. Not very many people take notes on their laptop.

In my experience, I would prefer loose paper and a three ring binder for each subject. Or one giant binder for all your classes. Or five subject notebooks are also very useful, then you can keep all your notes together.

I just use a 3 ring notebook for all my important papers. Than if I need to print something out. I use a computer either here at home or at school.

And it also depends on what the instructor wants as far as supplies.

for real..the only thing you need is like a five subject notebook…depending on how many classes you are taking…pen…pencil…and folders …thats it..its not like high school…you dont have drills and a lot of homework…most of your classes are lectures where the teacher talks the whole time…you take notes…take test and quizzes every now and then and have assignments….they give you a syllabus the first day of class that tells you all your assignments and materials needed for the class…college is very independent and your not forced to do anything…but its cool you will like the freedom just dont wait till he last minute to do things or you will have a hard time at the end of the semester catching up…hope i answered your question

no one really cares once you get to college, you can use whatever youre comfortable with. everyone has something different. there are only a few people who come to class with their laptop, and its not worth carrying it around really.

I think spirals are the most widely used item though. Have fun and good luck
