University sororities?

I find the concept of sororities a little confusing. WHat is the difference between joining a regular campus club and a sorority? WHat are the benefits? DO you recommend it?

sororities and fraternities are ridiculous organizations and they should not exist. You pay monthly dues to have “friends” which you really have nothing in common with other than probably drinking beer. You won’t be “sisters” for life with any of the people in the sorority and all the ties will end as people graduate and get real lives after school.

Its easy to make friends in school, and you can even be friends with all the sorority girls, just don’t sign up for the monthly payments part because they don’t have anything special that you can’t get from a regular circle of friends.

A sorority is like joining a club for life. The members are your sisters – and it is a very close bond. Typically, you live, eat, study, party, and relax together.

I do recommend it because it is the closest thing to family life available on campus. Lots of fun plus the wisdom and experience of older members who have encountered the same challenges as you in college.

my sister and i went to the same college. she joined a sorority and i didn’t. we had the same amount of friends and had the same amount of fun. i guess it looks good on a resume but she spent so much money (you have to pay to be in it incase you didn’t know that). i’m 4 years out and don’t talk to any of the friends i made in college anymore. she’s 7 years out and talks to all of them. some of her friends ended up with careers through the sorority. hope that helped…i’m indifferent to them!
