University of Virginia, is it a public ivy?

The large, well known, historical university started by Jefferson, I heard it was a good school ( I personally went to it’s sister college in a different location and didn’t like it) but is it considered a public ivy?

UVA has a sister school? What school is that? I’ve only heard extremely positive things about UVA and I know it’s a pretty difficult school to get into! And yes UVA is considered a public ivy school with offering an ivy league education at an “affordable” public price.

I’m assuming by “public ivy” you mean a good school. The answer is yes, it is a good school (I don’t like the term “public ivy” because as an ivy graduate I find it a tad bit arrogant that other schools propose to offer the same education for an “affordable” price). Many of the big public universities offer a VERY good education, and there’s no reason whatsoever to feel shortchanged by the experience. Ultimately you will want to choose a school that you feel you will be happy at, because your happiness is really always the most important thing when making these choices, yes?

Yes.

The best public universities in the US are UC-Berkeley, Virginia, Michigan, UNC, Georgia Tech, Wisconsin and UCLA.

While there are other good universities in the University of Virginia system — it is the main campus that is the really good one.
