Does anyone know of a ultrasound school in the SF bay area? Also, how long does it usually take to complete the courses? And how much does it cost for the program? thanks!

Here ya go:

Cypress College – Cypress, CA

Foothill College – Los Altos Hills, CA

Kaiser Permanente School of Allied Health Sciences – Richmond, CA

Loma Linda University – Loma Linda, CA

Merced College – Merced, CA

.. Orange Coast College – Costa Mesa, CA

University of California San Diego Medical Center – San Diego, CA

Los Altos and Richmond are your closest. You can go to the following site and search “diagnostic medical sonographer” and “CA” for this list. There are links provided for each program, and you can find more information there.

The above schools are accredited programs. I would not waste my time or money on NON-accredited programs. Upon graduation from a NON-accredited school, you must work full time for a full year in the field of ultrasound before you can take your licensing exams. But, you will have a hard time finding someone to hire you without that license. They put you between a rock and a hard place! Best wishes…..

Funny, I was going to say the same exact thing. I’ll just add on to the answer already given. Some hospitals do offer Sonography programs, but they are usually certificate programs only offered to those who have a degree in health care (in something like Rad Tech). Most Sonography programs are 2 year Associate’s at a technical college, and you will do clincal hours at a hospital or outpatient imaging center.
