Does the 7 year program increase your chances of getting in? Is it a combined program, where you are guaranteed a spot? I know University of New Mexico has a program like that. If so, go with the 7 year combined program. Med-school is soo competitive, so you should do everything you can. If this isn’t the case, don’t push yourself so hard. You will already be living in the library and lab as a pre-med student. Trying to shave a year off will just make you rip your hair out unnecessarily. One year is nothing when you consider all the school and residency you will go through.

You can still get experience during the summers volunteering or working in health-care if you take summers off or take a light load during the summer, if you choose the 7 year route.

I would go for the 3+ MD program (or 3+DO) you don’t get your undergraduate until the first or second year of med school but you do get your medical degree sooner. If you want to be a physician – and you are really certain you want to – and you have the drive and determination to study full time and not spend three days out of the week drinking beer push yourself and do it.

If you feel you need to relax on the weekends go for the traditional route. If your grades suffer when you push yourself go the traditional route.

You know you can become a physician in 5 years in most countries. You go from 12th grade to Medical School (Jumping through the ECFMG/USMLE hoops probably takes the extra 3 years you would be in school if you want to practice in the US).

My personal opinion would be traditional. And in my opinion you would get more experience. But I am not sure on how the medical field works.

but you forgot about residency and fellowships so that makes 13 at a minimum.
