Texas A & M question?

I am currently debating among which college I want to go to next year, and Texas A&M is at the top of the list. One deal breaker may be the Greek System. I really want to join a sorority, but I really have no one to write a letter of recommendation for me. I have been told, that at some colleges, the Greek system is very competitive and there’s no way you’ll be offered a bid if you don’t have a recommendation. Does anyone have any info on the Greek system at A&M? I’ve already looked at the ‘Greek Life’ section of their website, but all it says is that a letter of recommendation is optional, but not a necessity. Can anyone please help?

The greek system is getting stronger than it used to be, however, I would base your choice on what the school can offer you more than what the greek system can offer you. One of the reason’s the greek system has taken so long to grab hold at A&M is that the school offers a lot of the same things the Greek system does though its student activities–the other education.

Just something to keep in mind. Texas A&M has more student organizations than any other school. A&M puts a huge emphasis on the other education. If A&M is at the top you will be able to find an organization to fit into, be it greek or other, that will give you many of the same opportunities, experiences and leadership development.

greek is not big at all on A&M’s campus. There are so many more organizations to join that fit your interests better and don’t make you do or pays loads fo money for stupid crap. Most sororities recruit after school starts, and the school is so big I don’t think they’d care so much about a recommendation as the impression you make in person. Actually, most of the sororities take anyone they can get, and get upset if you try to leave. There’s also coed fraternities

I would be more concerned with getting a good Degree and getting part-time work experience in your field (ex. accounting, banking, etc.) If you do not have any work experience and a degree is all you have then you will have a hard time finding a good job. Granted, have fun in college but do fit in some good part-time work.

A&M is not like UT. Most sororities will be delighted to accept you.
