I went to a college that had a reputation as being pretty tough and demanding – every one hour in class required about two hours outside of class in preparation. College courses require a lot more reading and writing than high school work. I spent about 13 hours a week in class, and about 26-30 additional hours studying for those courses. This was a lot, but I was also determined to participate on the track team and in student government. I found that having these co-curricular areas of involvement helped to provide a wonderful balance to the rigor of my coursework as well as a good connection to the school (pride in community).

My days were ordered and scheduled – I managed because I did have a lot on my plate. Looking back, I wouldn’t have given up anything that I did – people supported my decisions to be involved and I loved my college experience.

I study about 4 hours a day. I’m a math major and have a part time job at the college. I manage to get that all in and work on an undergrad thesis. Some classes require more reading. Math requires more written exercises and practice problems. There’s papers in math too and those can take a long time. Sometimes on Saturdays I’ll spend 10 hours on work just to keep up but it’s really not that bad. Friday nights are movie nights with my friend and I take time out Saturday evening and all day Sunday. I have some free time during the week… it just comes down to time management.

Usually I don’t have to study for anything…just look over it a few times. When I do have homework…I probably only spend about an hour on it. But, it all depends on what the subject is. Like this year I’m a class about the human body, so I’m sure I’ll be spending a bit more time on that than I would with English.

i study before tests and quizes and it takes me usually about 45 mins to get it all in. As for homework it can take me anywhere between 30 mins to 3 hoursdepends how many assignments i have, its usually just math, science, spanish and sometimes religion( catholic private school). That was last year, this year i am not sure with all the AP’s and a cancer research internship and i work part time and volunteer so….i probaly will have no time for anything.
