Should I take 4 classes or 5?

I’m debating on whether to take 4 or 5 classes in fall for college. I have 4 classes already and mostly easy courses (or so I’ve heard). The thing is, if I take 5, I could graduate sooner and continue to take 5 courses but would that be too much? I love school and I love to learn, I usually get all A’s if I work hard, and B’s if I’m lazy. The thing is I’m starting a new job, not part time (which I’m used to) so I’m wondering if I can handle a full time job and 5 classes. Please, anyone, any advice? What’s your experience?

take 5 classes. I am currently a freshman at college, and I am taking only 3 classes. English tutoring and some other class that I don’t remember what it is at the top of my head. I am going back to Tae Kwon do and I will be busy. So I know what you mean. You arent sure if you want to take 4 classes or 5.

Just go with what your body is telling you.

I am trying to get all my pre reqs done for Virginia Tech. So, in order to get a high GPA for V-TECH I have to work extreamly hard.

so go with what you feel like.

I’ve always loved the adage “If you don’t have the time to do it right the first time, how will you find time to do it over a second time?”

In other words, take the extra time and get things done right! Take the 4 classes to leave yourself enough breathing room to do a good job on all your work. If you end up taking an extra six months or a year to graduate, so what? It’s better than getting swamped, failing out, and having to start from scratch.

Besides, if after taking 4 classes you realize you can handle it easily, there’s no reason you can’t take 5 classes next semester.

I say take 4 classes. What is the rush to graduate? Do you have set, guaranteed plans for after graduation? If not, there is no hurry. Why risk your GPA and add unnecessary stress to your life? If you really need/want to graduate sooner you can try taking summer classes. I take summer sessions so that it eases my load during the fall and spring semesters. Plus, summer classes have a more relaxed atmosphere and the teachers tend to be more lenient/easier, and you get it over with faster! Best of luck.

Take only 4 classes in the first semester … you’ll be getting used to your new work schedule, and college homework is very different from high school homework. When it’s time to sign up for the second semester classes, you will have a much better idea of ‘how much you can take’ …

It’s not wise to have a full-time job while your pursuing your education because it’s way too stressful and way too much work. It’d be very difficult to do both a full-time job and 5 classes. I recommend either getting a part-time job instead and taking 5 classes or taking as few classes as you can with a full-time job.

If it is possible, you might be better off with five classes and a part-time job (since you won’t be able to graduate in four years doing four classes per semester). But if you have to work full time, it might be a better idea to just take 4 (unless you can find a really easy 5th class).

Depends on your major I never worked during college. I took five course quite a few times. I was a science major. I wouldn’t take more than 15 hours if you are a science major the labs will kill you. My sister took 18 a few semesters she did well in them and had a part time job. She was not a science major.

Try five classes to start out with, and if it gets to be too much, drop one. I started out taking a lot of classes in college (anywhere from five to six a semester), and my last few semester, I only had to take four classes a semester, which was very nice.
