Should I put my ‘lower division GPA’ and omit my overall and upper division GPA’s?
Hi, I have a high ‘lower division GPA’ from my previous college (above 3.0) but I have low ‘Overall’ and ‘Upper division’ GPA’s because I had a bad semester & I screwed it up.
I am afraid that if I put them on my resume they will not consider me for an interview. If I omit them, should I also omit my ‘lower division’ GPA?? or If I include my ‘lower division’ GPA, should I also include the bad ones??
I am confident that If I omit them and get an interview I can explain this situation to the interviewer and probably get the job.
I need your opinions,
Thanks

I would not state it “lower division” because the upper division classes are usually weighed much more because they are more practical classes as opposed to basic freshman classes. If I were you, I would present the GPA as the GPA from whatever college you earned it rather than “lower division”, but include the entire GPA from that school. I would probably omit the overall GPA and only reveal it if specifically asked. If you don’t have a degree yet, it wouldn’t hurt to omit the upper division.
The important thing is to not lie on an application or interview. This would look a whole lot worse than a low GPA.

You are better off not including your GPA on your resume (most people probably shouldn’t put their GPAs on their resumes, unless they have at least a 3.5 anyway). If you put partial GPA on the resume, it will be obvious that you are hiding something, and even if the employer doesn’t care what your GPA is, they will care if you try to twist the truth.

All the college apps I filled out had an essay portion. Maybe you should include both and explain how you learned from your mistakes and how it has made you a better student more able to adapt to issues that arise in the real world. Also if you put in something about how you could be an asset to incoming freshman who go through a similar period of adapting to the different lifestyle; I think they like that sort of thing. I’ll wish you luck….
