should i join a sorority?

i am a pretty social girl who parties pretty hard already. one of my friends is interested in joining a sorority and wants me to join with her. I go to UC Santa Cruz and it’s already a party school so i don’t have to look too hard for parties. Also there’s the question of whether i should join an asian one or a multicultural one. i think if i pledge for the asian one, i will make it for sure. the multicultural one is more risky and i’m not sure if i will make it, but it definetely sounds more interesting than the asian one. do you thinki should join one?

You’re right, anyone can find a party on any campus. Sororities aren’t about partying… you have to think about leadership, campus and community involvement, academics, philanthropy, sisterhood, etc; social events are just another part of college life for sorority girls, just as for non-Greeks. If you or your friend are considering joining only because of the parties, you may want to reconsider.

Before even submitting/rushing a sorority, ask your self this question: Am I joining this sorority for the parties or for community service? There is alot more to a sorority than going to or throwing parties. There is community service and keeping your grades up so you can stay active in your chapter. Research every sorority on your campus before you submit because once you are a member of that sorority, it becomes a lifetime commitment. Once you join a sorority, people aren’t going to look at you as person. They’re going to look at you as (your name) of ABC sorority.
