How beneficial is an MBA degree from TAMU?
I am an attorney in Dallas and am looking to learn more and also pad my resume. I was looking at the MBA program at TAMU because of the cost of 15K, no GMAT requirement for GPA over 3.0, and its available with mostly online classes, but you still get a regular MBA diploma from Texas A&M. How do employers look at an MBA from smaller schools? I learned with a J.D. that experience matter to law firms most, how do they look at an MBA from TAMU, would it be no better than a cheap $50 internet diploma?

It’d be a lot better than a $50 diploma – probably not as good as one from Harvard Business and better than many from the tier 4 schools.
$15K isn’t all that high but there are less expensive options out there. In combination with a JD, it should be very valuable if you’re wanting to move into general management.

Further education will always open more doors for you. Check the job qualifications in the field you are looking at to see if the employers are even looking for an MBA. Even if you decide against a career in law, you can always market the MBA from TAMU since it is a nationally known school. SMU has a great MBA program too, though I believe the admission requirements are set a bit higher as is the price tag.

The easy it is to get into a school, the “lower” the quality of students (there are some exceptions, but people try to go to the bets school they can). I am guessing TAMU is only $15K because you are in state? If you want to stay a lawyer then it will help you a little. If you want to get into an MBA job then I am not so sure that it will help a lot.
