Should I buy a footlocker for my dorm room?

and if yes, can you recommend where I should get it from?

I need to store valuables and other things that tempt sticky fingers (electronics, expensive books, etc.) and I need to do it on a gigantic campus where theft is supposedly rather common. Yipes!

I was looking at C&N because of their construction, weight, and such. This is, of course, after hitting up Target, WalMart, and ACE. The trunklet things there are very light and pretty flimsy. Forget about the lock. I just need a screwdriver or worst case scenario a drill (allowed on campus) to bust that to pieces without drawing attention to myself. I am also a girly weakling.

The C&Ns are pricey (blech) but I’m wondering if the $100-200 trunk, which supposedly lasts “forever” and comes with a lifetime warranty is worth it. Give me your honest opinion. I’m going to be protecting over $2000 worth of stuff (but then again, I’m paranoid and many people wouldn’t want to snatch some of this anyway.)

PLEASE HELP Meeee! Thanks in advance!

If you can’t find a foot locer or trunk that is as good, but less pricey than a C & N, then I would strongly recommend getting the C & N. And “No!” you’re not being paranoid. You may have $2,000.oo worth of items to protect now, but you most likely will accumilate more. Don’t trust anyone. Ensure you put a combination lock, not a pad on your locker and keep it locked, even if your just stepping out of your room for a minute, that’s all it takes. And remember, locks keep honest people out. Good luck with you selection and your education.

You will need a footlocker with a good lock on it. And one that’s real sturdy, locks can be picked or broken into so ask the professionals about that. Get friendly with your roommate and tell her you’ll watch her stuff, when she’s not there and if she can watch yours in return. Stay on friendly terms with her and don’t make any unsavory character friends. Be cautious!

Good Luck!
