What you feel is TOTALLY NORMAL!! Just remember you’re not saying bye forever, you’ll all be back before you know it. Email, cells & facebook make keeping in touch easier too. Just relax & let yourself meet new people, its not abandoning your old friends no matter how it feels. You’ll all be together soon. Going to college is scary at 1st but then as soon as you let it, college becomes a place that you make new memories & never want to leave

That happened to me too when I started college. All my close friends left for their schools a week earlier than I did, so I was on my own for the week prior to me leaving for college. I felt sad and lonely too, but what helped me was calling them and asking them about how their school was, what dorm life was like, etc. Once you get to school, you’ll be able to start your new life, just like your friends are starting theirs. Yes, things will change and some of the people you’re friends with now may not be people you’ll be friends with later on. Friendships change from high school to college. However, college offers you the opportunity to meet a whole bunch of people who might have very similar or very different backgrounds from yourself. Either way, it’s fun to meet these people and build friendships with them You can always keep in contact with your old friends through phone calls and/or email…plus you can go see your old friends at their schools so you can see what their school is like and they can visit you to see what your school is like. First of all these are completely normal feelings and you may never be able to have the relantionship with some of the close friends that you once had.

However, college is a whole new experience!

You will meet hundreds of new people who well be in the exact same situation as you.

you will be sad. don’t worry because all the people that you will meet in college just went through the same thing. Just remember phones work both ways. weekends are a time to visit. and college is the place where you build a network for life meaning you set new friendships/acquaintances that will branch for a lifetime.

That’s a hard part of “growing up.” However, those friends that you made in high school will come back with even more to enrich your life because of the experiences they will have this year, and vice versa. Some won’t come back, but others will take their place. You’ll be okay once you get in your place!
