Rural Campus & Creative Writing? Please help.?
Hello all. I’m applying to the University of Pittsburgh, which is good for what I want to learn – writing. But I’m not always a good urban type. I’m curious if anyone knows of another college in Pennsylvania (so we pay state tution, not the extra $10,000 it seems to cost) with a rural campus and a good creative writing program?
The college that I came upon was Knox College, Illinois, and now I’m a little sad because I’m almost positive I wouldn’t be able to pay through it. Any opinions on that would also be appreciated.

Susquehanna University has a very good writing program, and they fit the rural requirement, but I’m pretty sure they’re private. I’m afraid you’re going to find that’s the case for most rural universities with a liberal arts focus. Before you give up on that option, try talking to financial aid offices to get a sense of scholarship opportunities.

Sorry, but you really do need to take some creative writing. And don’t forget to use a Thesaurus, I couldn’t write if I didn’t have one.
The big trick I was taught about writing is to write as though no one knows what you are talking about. You may have to rewrite a paper several times before you attain what you are wanting to say.
