What do you think?

I am 31 years old and about to get my BS in lab science. I put off going to college for a very long time (9 years) to help my fiance’s parents run their farm. Both of her parents had cancer, so I took care of it.

As long as I can remember I wanted to be a doctor. I still do but I am not sure if I will be missing out and passing my life up. I’ve done a lot of good but neglected myself and now I feel tired.

What do all of you think I should do? How can I start feeling like myself again? Thanks.

You know what you need to start thinking of yourself and going after your dreams. Life is short and you never know when it may end! Start doing things that YOU have always wanted to do or try or experience taste etc! Live your life to the fullest and go for all of your dreams and goals because you never know when it may end! If being a doctor is something that you want to do, I say go for it! Your family and friends will have your back to support you, as for the rest of us! Good luck and enjoy every day!

First, I’d like to say that I hold selfless people like you in the highest regard! The world would be a better place if it had more people like you.

Secondly, I say go for it! What is the purpose of living if we can’t chase our dreams. Yeah, you’re older than the typical medical student. So what? It’s not worth living with the doubt and dejection that you’ll feel for the rest of your life knowing that you didn’t at least try. I think you’ll find that once you start down the path towards your goal, you’ll begin to feel like your old self with every step forward that you take.

With that being said, I don’t think that that it will be an easy task. You’re about 7 years behind the curve, so you’ll probably have to do a lot of preparatory work prior to applying to med school. I would keep an optimistic attitude though, and keep pushing towards your goal.

Wow…I was just you yesterday!

As long as you have breath in your body you better go for what you know! In other words you will never feel peace until you reach your ultimate goal of being a physician and even then you will have developed about 20 more goals to reach…Go for it..

You can start feeling yourself again by graduating with honors (smile) with your BS in lab science, prepping for the MCAT, researching Medical schools, and developing time out to TAKE CARE of YOU! Do something for you…don’t neglect you…

Don’t feed into the notion that you are too old to become a doctor. If being a doctor is what’s truly in your heart, you will actually enjoy med school and residency, and it’ll help you get up in the morning since you know you are doing and striving for something you love. I saw an episode of Oprah the other day where a grandma just graduated from med. school since it was always her dream to be a doctor. Basically, it is NEVER too late. Plus, you’re not even that old. : )

When you finish your BS in lab science, go to medical school. Life, is not about, age, time, or things. Life is about loving (yourself) and the things you love to do.

“Hold on to your dreams, because when your dreams die, life is like a bird with broken wings that cannot fly”

Langston Hughes

Go for being a doctor! Its never too late and your life has just started! Now that you almost ahve your lab science degree, look into what it takes for medical school. if you go that route you will be in school a while but who cares! This if for yourself and this is your dream.
