Quick pre-med and med school question?

Im a freshman in high school and am VERY interested in getting into the medical field. I’ve actually been wanting to do this for years and am immensely comitted to accomplishing my goal. I’ve kinda been doing ALOT of “research” figuring out what classes i need to take in high school and all that other good stuff, but am abit confused in the extra-curricular activities i need to take. So my question is, what extra-curricular activities should i take to make myself look like the most promising choice?

Volunteer at a hospital. Get involved with sports or other groups that interest you. When you apply to med school you probably won’t list anyting that you did in high school, unless it is something like volunteering and you continue with it through college, then you can say that you volunteered at the hospital for 7 years.

Joey, are you interested in becoming a doctor or be in any medical field. If you are good in science and math you should be ready for college. As for extracurriculars, don’t be too specific, do what you enjoy much. If you like swimming, joing the swimming team ans so on.

Check out the pharmacy profession. There are many advantages. They are:

1) Takes less time to finish

2) You can start a family and maintain it and see your kids everyday

3) Most jobs are 9-5

4) Starting salary is 75-150K depending on location

5) One of the most trusted profession in the US

6) Very flexible working schedule

7) You still get to be involved in a patient;s life

Good Luck with your decision! Feel free to contact me if you are interested in pharmacy!

The best thing you can do for yourself is to enjoy your youth, play sports, go to the beach, be well rounded. You never know you might enjoy something you didn’t think you would and become their team doctor some day. There is more to life than having your head buried in a book all day, after all you will be working for the next 45 years. Your only young once,

Do things you like. College admissions officers are surprisingly good as spotting things designed just to impress them.
