Grants give you money to pay for college and do NOT have to be repaid. Also, scholarships do not need to be repaid either. The government provides student loans at a low interest (FAFSA, Pell, etc.) that are due upon leaving school (graduating or dropping out) with a six month grace period before payment is due. For more info, the college of your choice has a Financial Aid office with people who will help you fill out the paperwork.

Best wishes.

You can definitely get financial aid for college. The site for applying for federal student aid is http://fafsa.ed.gov . Because you don not live with your parents and they are not claiming you as a dependent you might want to talk to the financial aid office with your school to get the additional paperwork needed to not include them on your fafsa application.
