Please help- I’ve lost all motivation to attend school!?

I’m a senior in college with 3 classes until I graduate with my bachelors degree. I used to be such a good student, studied all the time and would strive for a 4.0. now it takes everything that I have just to finish my assignments. My gpa is a 3.5 so I don’t want my lack of motivation to drop it down any more. I can barely even find the motivation now to attend class, let alone write research papers. I missed class all last week due to a vacation with my husband and I just don’t want to go back. I feel so lazy and hate school so much (even though the classes I am taking aren’t that hard)…..what should I do? Please give me some motivation or tell me some tricks to get through this semester. i graduate in December and then only have 1 more class until I recieve my degree. Help!!

I worked full time while I went to college, after 3 semesters of working two jobs and taking 13 or 14 credit hours, I was toast. I took a semester off.

That was 17 years ago and I took my first class after my “break” last year.

You are so close to being finished, don’t screw that up. Just 6 short months and you are done. 6 months? Come on.

Trust me the job market is tanking my dear and taking 6 months off now, might cost you food on your table. Do the right thing for your future and finish. 180 days (or so)

For motivation get a big calendar that shows a whole year and mark you last day of school on it. Count back and number the days until finished. Keep it where you can see it. If for me I would also write down how many days I have been working towards this goal. Seeing the amount of previous effort as compared to the time left may just motivate you to keep going. Picture yourself in your cap & gown receiving the degree/diploma with honors.

Be proud of yourself for making it this far and a GPA of 3.5 is very good. Heck I don’t even know you and I am proud of you.

You are so close now, just make it a duty and you will never regret it. If you stop Inertia may take over and you may not finish for years. Don’t do that to yourself.

Good luck.

Hi Ms Kitty! I hope you enjoyed your vacation and I think its normal to have post-vacation depression and ‘senioritis’ (remember that phrase).

Listen, you must be tired of going to school by now, I know I am (I’m on my 6th year and still have 2.5 full time years left until I get my BA). I have trouble with motivation as well and one thing that gets me through it is thinking of moving on with my future…like having and providing for a family of my own, stability, and freedom from part-time bartending jobs!

There could be so many reasons why your feeling like this (so make sure its not something more serious like a medical condition). I have to say I envy you right now. Your so close to graduating you can taste it! Think of all the time you spent waiting to be here, and now its here. So many people would be dying to walk in your shoes.

Just a few more months and you can really relax. You can do it, your not a quitter!!!! You got this far so you need to finish while feeling your best and most proud of yourself! You’ve been waiting for these final moments so live them out, release your tension, take a walk and some deep breaths…AND GET BACK TO WORK!!! 🙂

I know w hat you are saying. I just finished my Bachelors in last spring. It’s hard towards the end because you are so drained out. But tell your self ,” I have worked so hard and I don’t want to let all of this go to waste.” All that money you spent on classes until now…you are going to get that degree.” Plus, in future if and only if you would like to go for Masters, good GPA will help with free grant.

School sucks. Plain and simple. Knowing that should motivate you to finish since you don’t want to put all that you went through to waste. You’re almost done!
