This depends on your record. If you would have qualified for a university as a freshman, but just didn’t go, and you have done okay in college, you can transfer after a year. If you did poorly in high school, and were looking for college to bring you up to an acceptable academic level, then you will probably have to wait another year, since universities look at your high school record until you have completed two years of college.

Basically, yes.

Specifically, you need to check the details with the university and your community college.

1) are both schools accredited? This will play a factor in knowing how many credits of your CC work can transfer to the university. And that also determines your academic standing at the university.

2) school calendars: the key dates for enrollment, transfer, application, etc. will be the university to which you want to transfer. So look at those carefully as that may affect when you can effect the transfer from the CC. For example, if your CC classes are not over by the time the University application deadline is due, there may be some delays in getting transcripts of the CC work completed that would transfer to the University.

It is probably a good idea to talk with an admissions counselor at the university AND the undergraduate adviser in the university department of your major. They may have insights and suggestions to share with you before you make a final decision on your transfer date.

hope this helps…best wishes.

Yes, it is possible. I did it after a year of attending a community college. I applied as a transfer student.

No, many pupils try this and are in comparable circumstances. college is costly, and community college is a stable thank you to keep funds and get necessary credit complete. extra pupils stay for 2 years at a community college.

It depends on what school you want to transfer in to. Some schools have credit requirements for people who want to transfer, and you may not have enough credits with just (barely?) one year under your belt. Check with the schools you want to apply to first, but honestly most people transfer after they’ve already done 2 years.
