My son wants to be a surgeon – he’s a senior in high school – what does he need to do?

Is is difficult to get into med school? What does he need to concentrate on? He has done dual enrollment in his Junior year and is now doing his senior high school year in our local college.

go to a good university, major in pre-med, never get less than a B, apply to many med schools and yes it is hard to get in, and go to med school for 4 years, do a residency of 7 years, then do a fellowship and then get a job. Its a long haul. My daughter just took her boards and is doing her fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology. it cost 4 times what it did when she went to med school.
