I took psycology on my junior year and got a D on it. If I go to a community college that starts at janurary 7 and ends february 17 will I still make it. Because I heard that UC college application are due at the end of Nov. and for gpa do they look at it as unweighted or weighted. and what’s the differences. Thank you.

If you already have it set up where the Psychology class would appear on your official transcript, then when the college requests your grades in january (which the good ones will do..the colleges will ask you if you have accomplished anything new since you sent in your application, if you have received some new scholarship, to update your transcript, and basically if anything new has happened) then you write down on the update sheet, which is done online, that you are retaking the class at a community college and they will acknowledge that and it will make your application look better. If the Psych class will not be appearing on you transcript, then will the college requests an update on your situation, then you simply say that you are taking the class at a college.

If you take the Psych class at the community college, then it will count as weighted becuase it will be a core class, meaning that you get an extra point added to your GPA. So, if you get a “B” in the class, it is counted as an “A” when you calculate your GPA. Same thing where a “C” is counted as a “B.” So obviously a weighted class is better than an unweighted class…however, you are given an extra point because it is a harder class. However, if you took the Psych class at your high school, then you will not get the extra point, unless the Psych class was an AP or Honor class. But, you got a “D,” and a “D” or “F” in an AP/Honor class automatically forfeits the extra point.
