Medical school essay length…?

I know that the essay should be about 5,300 characters with spaces. What if you exceed that, like 5,700 is it going to be a problem?

The length of your essay can be what you want. But bear in mind, the people on the admissions committee who read it will make their determination by the third paragraph. It’s just basic human nature.

If you haven’t established yourself two thirds of the way down the first page they’ll probably stop reading it and go on to one of the other several thousand essays that have to be read.

If you are over 5000 characters, you’re either rambling or inserting too much minutia in your essay. If you’re having difficulty condensing your essay, pay an English tutor $50 to help you write it.
