Mail from Colleges?

Does recieving letters in the mail from colleges mean they want you, and that you have a higher chance of getting accepted, esepecially if they are private, ivy league colleges?

No. They just want you to apply. Mail by no means means that you have a higher chance of getting in. They just want to give you (as well as every other student in the country) information about their college so that they can recruit more students (hopefully the brightest) to come to their campus.

Not really. I get mail all the time from colleges.. mostly from ones I requested information from and others I never even heard of. Your name could be on a list sent from your school or from the state. They just want your attention– it is definetly worth the time, you may find your dream college in the mail.

The PSAT asks you if it’s okay for them to send your scores to schools. The schools will then contact you if your score is in their target range. It sounds like you meet Brown and Stanford’s standards, but that doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily get in. If you’re interested in going to either school, I would take advantage of the opportunity and go visit over the summer.

Not necessarily, it just means that your name is on a list at your high school of graduating seniors…they may or may not have access to your GPA or class order.
