let a friend copy homework, got busted for cheating…what to do now?

she gave us both 0s and i understand because we messed up. she also said that she sent a copy of out homework to our guidance counselor.

i went in after school today, and i cried/told the teacher how sorry i was for what happened. and that whatever reason i had doesn’t excuse what my actions. i promsied her that it will never happen again.

she forgave my but i can’t help wondering what the guidance counselor is going to do. is this going to go on my record? i’ve never even had a detention before? is there anything i can do or say to erase this? it’s tearing me apart.

I’m not sure you can do or say anything to erase it with the exception of not doing it again. If it’s only one time, then it’ll probably be a detention or something like that. As for you record, it may or may not go on it, but if it’s only once, then I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

If it doesn’t happen again, you won’t have much to worry about, think of it as a single blip on a radar screen. If it doesn’t appear again, then most people will think it’s simply an anomoly, and igonore it. However if it keeps occurring (you keep letting people copy your homeowork) then it will show a pattern and the consequences will continue to get worse.

It’s much that way in certain jobs, you make a minor mistake and if it doesn’t happen again, then it’s not a big problem. You might get punished by a poor performance rating or possibly a warning, but if it doesn’t happen again, then you’ve got nothing to worry about. Most bosses will see it as only a single mistake, and if it’s not repeated then they’ll figure the employee learned from their mistake.

I would just accept the consequences of what you did, you’ll probably get lectured on not doing it again, how wrong it it is, and a possible warning or detention. As long as you don’t do it again, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

I think that you shouldn’t just let your classmate just copy your work because that’s unfair on your part being that you took the time to actually do it all ! I would just ask my classmate “Have you tried to do the homework?” If they say yes, then you can ask them “What part were you confused on?” If they tell you ,then you can try to explain it to them or give a couple examples to help them along the section they are having trouble with. So that way the person is not taking your hard work and copying it. If none of that works at all, then you should stay after class and tell your teacher about this classmate, so that way the teacher knows to confront the student instead of you having to go through the pressure of them bugging you about copying your homework!!! That’s what I would do if I was in that situation !!! I hope I helped you a little bit!!!

what grade are you in? i let my friends copy off my homework and i do the same but just if i forgot to do it or something. my best advice would be DONT get caught. if you really did convince your teacher your sorry then she probably told the counselor about it and you will not get into any more trouble. i dont think this will go on your record and i bet they will forget about it in a week or two, well the counselor will but the teacher probably wont. if they have not given you detention yet they probably will not because they usually give it out the day of the incident. good luck and dont do it twice in the same class

Try not to beat yourself up too badly over it. Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is that you owned up to what you did wrong and learn from it.

It likely will stay on file at the school, but you sound like a bright person who is sorry for what happened, so I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

The counselor may talk to you later, but I think you are out of trouble. You sound like you know you messed up big time and learned your lesson to me. I don’t think you will do that again, and I hope they don’t either. Good luck. You will be fine, don’t worry!

this record will not reflect on your attending to college.

just have good grade toward the end of the year and keep a good GPA.

how u know not to let someone copy your homework.

why should u let them copy it when u work so hard for it.

in return you got a zero.

You can’t erase it – but if you never do it again, nobody’s ever going to care. You’re human, just like the rest of us.

But make sure you tell your friend right now that you are never going to do it again, so it’s not awkward if she asks you.

Talk to your counselor (set up a meeting) and tell him/her that you felt peer pressure and didn’t know how to respond. You didn’t feel safe saying “no.” Then ask if you can get some regular sessions with him/her to address how you feel.

Also, don’t do it again. πŸ™‚ Good luck! πŸ™‚

I don’t think it will go on your record. If it was something like plagiarism, it probably would but cheating once won’t affect anything.
