However, think carefully about your career goals or what you intend to do with the foreign languages. If teaching is the goal, then the pattern will be very much like being an English major where you move on the high end to literature. but if you are seeking work in using the languages for translation/interpretation that’s a whole different ball game.

So consider the options, set some clear goals AND make some alternative plans that give you flexibility to switch to other directions without having to start all over from zero.

To get more exposure and experience using languages, see about volunteering in local community centers, area hospitals, and other places where non-English speakers present a challenge to the workers providing community services. For example, a non-English speaking patient shows up and the workers in the community center don’t speak that language. You can be very useful there.
