should i get a laptop..?

Im starting college august 27th and my mother really wants to get me a laptop but i’m thinking.. i DONT really need one.. i have a computer at home 80Gb space, 128 ATI Radeon x300, 2GB Memory, and all the programs i need.. I love playing the sims 2 and i dont think that you’ll be able to really play it on a laptop.. I’m not leaving to live on campus im going to be staying home s0o i’mma be n the house most of the time.

If i need to type up a paper i can on my desktop, and i can still play my games and everything.

The only reason i would see that i would need a laptop is because there is a be gap between my classes and i would have my laptop to play games and not be bored..

whats your opinion should i get the laptop? or tell my mother to put the money toward tuition?

i w0uld say it depends.. I didnt get the laptop because i want to go to more school after the 4 years n college s0o i wanted my mother to save her money to help me pay for my later schooling..

But i did need it sometimes.. as some1 stated above, the computer labs are always crowded and you may not want to study through books all the time..

I would get it if i was you.. i didnt because i want to go 4 more yrs of school and need that money..

If you’re staying at home and have the use of a computer there that is great. I would advise you to take your Mom up on the offer of a laptop. The reason being that you’ll have time in between classes, but it is easier to do homework while the subject is still fresh in your memory and if you have a laptop you can immediately start your papers after class. Also with a laptop, if you type fast you can take notes during class. I find that it is easier than writing, and the keys on a laptop are usually quieter than the keys on a regular computer. Trust me, with all the classes you are taking and all the assignments that the professors are going to give you a laptop is really the way to go.

I think you should go with a laptop. Yes you could manage to work it all out on your comp at home and put more money towards tuition-which is also an alternative. However with the laptop, besides you being able to do work anytime you need to, you wouldn’t have to worry about someone using it when you have to use it or anything. Since it would be your own computer you could also do anything you want on it of which I don’t see why you couldn’t play some games. Once you get one, you’ll be happy with it. Besides college anyway, you could also use it just for general personal use in the future.

My children agonized over the same thing and opted NOT to get a laptop. Now that they are both in graduate studies, they need one, but never once did they ever need one during their undergraduate degree. My vote would be to have your mom put the money towards tuition. Or to save it for you so that you can buy a career wardrobe when you get out of school.

there will be times in between classes that a laptop can be useful. also, modern laptops are really fast. you can play games, like command and conquer and sims.

if you don’t need it, don’t use it. i would reccomend hanging out with your friends on campus or something. or studying. don’t waste your money.
