Is first quarter calculus hard?
I am taking Calculus this quarter. I am a little nervous about it since. I have heard so many bad things about calculus. Is it really that hard? If so, what is so hard about it. Please remember, this is first quarter Calculus in college…
Favorite Answer
My first quarter of calculus involved a fairly intensive algebra quiz that we had to ace completely in order to even stay in the class. That was intimidating at first, but we could continue to retry it until a certain date if we needed. Soon thereafter we had to ace a similar quiz of basic calculus (derivatives, to be exact). Also intimidating, but doable.
Calc was the only class I studied for religiously. It was aggravating and difficult, and I spent a good couple hours two or three times a week working on it. College math in general requires more effort than high school math. If you study well and are a decent math student, your grade will reflect your effort.
Utilize any existing options called “study hall” or “peer tutoring” or “calc workshop” or any other evening get-together tailored specifically for calculus students who are trying to get through the material.
