Is community colelge harmful to your career?

Would someone who started at a state university be chosen for a job over someone who started in community college?

All else being equal no.

If you started at a CC, did well and went on to a State School and did well it won’t matter. I started out at a CC for gen ed classes, saved a ton of money on cheaper tuition and then transferred. In the interviews I went to my CC time never even came up.

From a “social” perspective you do miss out on some of the fun that you would have your first two years and you miss out on developing some of the connections you might make, so that may be something to consider, but employers won’t care.

No it is not harmful to your career. You are credited hours and points just like any University. After two years of attending Community College you may transfer to a University.

they shouldn’t

if you start at a state university it shows that you’re willing to pay a lot more money to take the same classes you could have done at a community college
