I don’t think there’s a good, straight-forward answer to your question. I used to work in MBA Career Services at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and there I worked with students interested in a variety of MBA careers. The best way for you to find out if your system specialization will be a good fit for a business analyst job is to look at the job descriptions and requirements for as many business analyst jobs as you can find. The title business analyst can be used to describe a lot of different kinds of jobs. Reading up on how different companies define the role of business analyst will be really helpful to you.

You can also talk to all your friends and business contacts to see if any of them work as business analysts, or ask if they have contacts who work as business analysts. Try to arrange to meet with someone working in the field to find out how they prepared for the job they’re in.

There are two companies that publish print and online guides to business careers: Wetfeet and Vault.

You might try running searches on their websites.

I think both include blogs that may include information from folks currently working in the fie.d
