Does not getting into NHS hurt my chances of getting into a good college?

I had a 3.6 GPA, when I was “academically” able to join the NHS, However, my essay (or some other parts) were probably displeasing to the judges. Long story short, I didn’t get in.

Would NOT getting in hurt my chances of getting into a college like Baylor or Texas A&M.

Also, it seems like all of my friends got in but me. 🙁

If you do well on the SATs, you can still get in. I went to Texas A&M, great school. I got in from out of state without being in NHS and I believe my GPA was lower than yours, but I did well on the SATs and had good letters of recommendation.

Depending on which major you are thinking of, you may have an easier time going directly into the department, but think carefully before you do that because when you change majors you sometimes find you took unnecessary classes.

Also, look into taking some of your generals at your local community college during the summer. It’s cheaper that way, easier and you don’t have to spend as much time in a class you hate. CLEP when you can.

NHS is largely unnecessary on a school software. it would not instruct something that something of your software received’t–you’ve already got your gpa and your volunteering listed, and that is really what NHS does. countless of the accurate scholars in my intense college (myself blanketed), did not even hardship utilizing because of ways unnecessary/scamlike it regarded, and all of us were given into tremendous faculties. no longer shifting into NHS received’t damage you. a three.sixty seven gpa will, a minimum of at cornell and columbia (i’m no longer very wide unsleeping of the UM stats). maximum folk utilizing will be a lot in the direction of a 4.0.

Memories
I knew people who were not in NHS but got accepted to Rice, Baylor, and Vanderbilt. During the application process, the office of admission only look at the good things you did during your school years. They don’t care about the bad things as long as you can cover them. (i.e. Community service, AP scores, AP classes etc…). Don’t worry about NHS so much! If you’re not in it, it’s ok! it’s good if you are though.

Doubt it. Colleges like to see titles, but it’s not the end of the world if you don’t have one. Be more focused on the personal essay and coming across well on paper because that is what the admit process boils down to.

I don’t know what NHS. I am guessing it must be some kind of prestigious prep school or something to that effect.

Long story short, you didn’t get in. So, suck it up, kick butt at regular school, and get into the university of your choice the old fashioned way.
