If you returned to school in your mid-30’s?

By school I mean a community college, technical school, etc.

Was it worth the time and effort? Were you able to find a career doing something you truly enjoy?

I’m considering doing this next year. I just haven’t decided what to study.

I went back to school full time when I was 39. It was worth every minute and much easier than the first time.

I now have two bachelor’s and a master’s and am working on my MBA. It’s definitely worth it.

Well, I’m only 28, but when I was in college, I did have some classes with people in the next age bracket. I like the diversity it brought and actually made class more comfortable as far as having to make a presentation or similar project.

Go for it! I never did finish my degree, and would like to go back myself. I know people say it’s hard to go back, but it’s all in how you think of it. Go to job or career fairs (some community colleges might sponser such events) and take a look around. Counselors on campus should also be available to discuss career options if you are undecided, or just search around online. The college I attended also had a career interest test available, and it is designed to help determine where your interests lie and what qualities you look for in a job or study.

I started college at 36, going very part time. I’m not done yet, but every minute of it has been worth it! I was a para for many years, working in special ed, but the joints just couldn’t take that abuse any more. I’m not really qualified for anything else, so decided to go for a teaching degree.

There are all kinds of certificates and 2 year degrees. What are you interested in; what brings you joy and fulfillment? If you can find that, you have your answer.
