If you go to a SUNY school I think you would have to take foreign language unless you have an 85 or better on Regents exam. Depending on your degree program, either three or six credits would be required. But it could be any language they offered, including sign language.
Other schools in the state? I don’t know. It would vary depending on the school and on the specific major you choose.

That will depend on your college and your major. Not all colleges require foreign language, and those that do will usually let you try to test out of it. Call the admissions department of the college you’re interested in attending and ask them if they have a foreign language requirement, and how it can be satisfied. Good luck.
