If I do bad at the bachlors level, can I redeem myself at the master’s level?

I made a bad choice in choosing the major of sociology for an undergrad at a college that was limited in the major I wanted. I am a senior now with the worst GPA. I plan to stay at my college and get a masters in the major I should have choosen (FCS). I have a better chance I believe getting in here b/c I already attend, plus they are willng to let me in under conditional terms and the course work only requires 32 semester hours and it is a fast track program (evenngs and weekends). I need as much education that I can get as a single parent of three, can a masters redeem me if I want to continue on wth higher education?

If you can get into the Master’s program, yes, your grad school coursework and grades can redeem you.

My husband didn’t do well as an undergrad but “grew up” and got serious during grad school. He did well and had no trouble finding work. I don’t think anybody even asked about his undergraduate GPA.

You might have to accept a somewhat smaller, less prestigious master’s program than you might have wished for, but if you can get into a master’s program and keep your grades up, you might redeem yourself and go on to a doctoral program somewhere.
